Location(s):
My name is Jennifer (more commonly known as “Jen”). Through my non-traditional student role, I learned a great deal about having compassion and empathy for others who might not “fit into the box” in whatever space they are holding. My practice approach tends to be eclectic, borrowing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) informed practices, solution-focused therapy, play therapy techniques, mindfulness, and body positivity. My personal and professional experiences with local school districts have afforded me a deeper level of understanding for clients and families navigating special education. I have great passion working as an ally for LGBTQ+ community and other diverse and vulnerable populations. I pride myself on respecting the dignity and worth of each person I work with and deeply espouse my profession’s code of ethics.
My goal as a therapist is to create a calm, safe, and nonjudgmental place where you can move through healing at your own pace, knowing you aren’t alone. Holding space beside someone in therapy sessions is an honor and a privilege that I don’t take lightly. As the great poet Rumi once said, “Out beyond ideas of right and wrong, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”
